The issue my friend brought up is that I do not have proof my car was at their shop outside of my own word. They didn’t charge me nor give me any paper evidence of what they did

Well basically the shop told me on Wednesday evening ‘get us the parts or get it out’....so I wasn’t given much of an option either

I’m sure you had options, but didn’t know them at the time and were pressured. I had a shop swindle about $1000 from me once upon a time. Basically nothing I could do. Lesson learned was a two-fer: 1) Don’t go back to that shop, and 2) get a written estimate... Wait, there’s a third one: 3) fuck that shop
